One of the new functions of Justo, Justo 2, Avanti, Direto XR and Suito home trainers is the Bridge function for heart rate and cadence sensors, which allows to pair of one of the aforementioned sensors via ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart to the trainer.
N.B. For Direto XR and Suito home trainers, in order to access this function, it is necessary to check via Upgrado that the trainer has been updated to the latest FW version.
The home trainer will therefore be a bridge between the heart rate monitor and/or the cadence sensor and the training app/software, directly sending the heart rate and/or cadence values.
This is useful in the case of devices (for example Apple TV) that support only three connected sensors at a time. In this way there is the possibility to have a single channel for the connection with the home trainer, the cadence sensor and the heart rate sensor, and the remaining channels to connect to other devices (for example, Sterzo Smart or Rizer and the Apple TV remote control).
Justo, Justo 2, Avanti, Direto XR and Suito can also create a "virtual" heart rate monitor.
In it, it's possible to connect a Bluetooth device to an ANT+ heart rate monitor.
For example, by connecting the ANT+ heart rate monitor to the home trainer, a "virtual" Bluetooth heart rate monitor that can connect to the training app/software will be created.
Activation and search for cadence and/or heart rate monitor are done directly via My E-Training, even without any active subscription.
Warning: before carrying out the below procedure, please remember (if not already done) to configure the home trainer on the My E-Training via the Settings -> Configuration menu.
When using a PC (Windows or MAC)
1: Load My E-Training
2: Choose "Settings"
3: Choose “Sensor bridge”
4: The following screen will be displayed after a few seconds:
By clicking on the "Pair" button, it is possible to start searching the home trainer for a heart rate or cadence sensor depending on which search is conducted.
By clicking on the "Delete" button, it is possible to unpair a previously paired sensor.
5: By choosing "Pair (heart rate or cadence)", the home trainer starts searching for the related sensor.
A quick blink of the green LED light will indicate the search for ANT+ sensors.
Without it, the search for any other Bluetooth sensors will automatically begin and it'll be indicated by a quick blink of the blue LED light.
Please note: the search might sometimes take a few minutes during which the following screen will be displayed:
6: A screen with the search results will be displayed once it's done.
If the search is positive, the following screen will be displayed:
If no sensor nearby is picked up, the following screen will be displayed:
For mobile devices (Android or iOS)
1: Load the My E-Training app

3: Choose “Sensor bridge”

General notes:
1: The home trainer pairs with the first sensor in the room that gets picked up, usually the closest to the trainer.
If in the same room, there are other heart rate and/or cadence sensors, please move all the sensors that don't need to pair (or remove the battery if possible) away and keep on and as close as possible, only the sensor is required to use.
2: With double-transmission sensors using ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart protocols:
as previously stated, the home trainer will first search for ANT+ sensors, then for Bluetooth sensors.
With dual-channel ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart sensors, the home trainer will connect to the sensor via ANT+.
3: Bluetooth-only sensors:
with heart rate and/or cadence Bluetooth-only sensors, once paired with the home trainer, they won't be visible to other apps and/or devices (for example, by your own cycle computer). If it is required to have a free sensor to pair with another app or cycle computer while working out, it’ll be necessary to remove the home trainer-sensor pairing by selecting the "Delete" button on the sensor Bridge function of My E-Training.
4: If a certain heart rate and/or cadence sensor is paired, and over time this sensor is changed/replaced, the trainer will not automatically search for the new sensor, but a new search will have to be conducted. To do so, unpair the previous sensor by clicking on the "Delete" option and subsequently pair the new sensor via the "Pair" button.
5: After pairing a specific heart rate and/or cadence sensor, an automatic search for that particular sensor will be performed each time the home trainer is switched on again.
If it's not present or active the following might occur:
- heart rate sensor paired but not present: the home trainer won't send any heart rate data
- cadence sensor paired but not present: the home trainer will automatically switch from cadence bridge mode to sensorless cadence mode and will directly send cadence data calculated by the sensorless algorithm in the trainer.
